This document is to outline to requirements and limitations of Star Trek...Revisited in its current form. The software is currently a beta release copy and may still have some bugs lurking around. I would appreciate any feedback or comments for any fixes or additions to the program before I call it a "golden" release.
Since I'm using new Sound Manager calls, System version 5.0 or greater is required. Secondly, I have only tested this on a Mac Plus and Mac SE with 1 and 2MB of RAM. I will not promise or guarantee things working on pre-Mac Plus machines at this time (maybe with later modifications this will be possible).
What I really want from you, the final judge of this program, is for you to become a critic. Is the program too easy? Or too difficult? Are some things represented unrealistically? What features could be added to make the game more fun and interesting? What do you like and dislike about the program? Do you have any sounds to donate that would better fit the game? Are there any potential bugs or problems you have located? With these questions answered, I will be able to supply everyone a good, stable final release of the software that I believe everyone will enjoy.
Don't think that since the game is in beta it is not worth playing. Far from it! If you have ever played the original Star Trek game written in Basic back on the Apple ][, I think you'll enjoy the program very much. I have outlined the "new" rules under the Apple menu in the program. You can print these to a printer if you like. I have tried to keep things as close to the original, while adding more playability, a nice Mac interface, and a little more common sense to the program.
